Florence,
the capital of the region of Tuscany, is a culturally rich section of Italy. The
fourth largest cathedral in the world, the Piazza del Duomo, dominates the skyline
of Florence with its imposing dome. The Uffizi Gallery houses some very famous
pieces of Florentine art. But the real art attraction, David, is found at the
Accademia Gallery. And the Santa Croce church contains the tombs of some famous
artists, such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, and Galileo. Wealth and extravagance
are found in Florence as well, in the Medici Chapels and the Pitti Palace. |
