Venice is unlike any other city in the world, as it floats upon 117 small islands and has 150 canals. In fact one of the most popular things to do in Venice is to float down the Grand Canal in a charming, romantic gondola. But there is much more to Venice than romance. St. Mark's Basilica houses gorgeous golden mosaics and is located in the world-famous St. Mark's Square. The Palazzo Ducale was the political center of the city with state rooms and prisons connected by the Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs). Although Venice has much to offer, it may be difficult to get over the exquisite beauty of the city.
